Privacy & cookies
Last updated 29 August 2026. This notice is for the website at calcuit.co.uk, which is aimed at visitors in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.
Who we are
Calcuit is a free unit-conversion and calculator site. For UK GDPR purposes the controller of personal data collected through this site is the operator of calcuit.co.uk. We do not sell visitor lists or share account data with advertisers.
What we collect
If you never sign in, we hold no account about you. Conversions are computed from the URL and the numbers you type in the browser; we do not log those values.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name and profile picture URL from Google, and we store your email address alongside the list of pages you have saved. We do not receive your Google password, contacts, or anything else in your Google account.
The hosting provider (Amazon Web Services in eu-west-2) may record standard server logs such as IP address, user agent and the page requested, for security and to keep the service running. We do not use those logs to build advertising profiles.
Cookies
UK PECR and UK GDPR require consent before non-essential cookies. A full list lives on the cookie policy. In short:
- A consent cookie (
calcuit_ad_consent) that records whether you accepted advertising cookies, so we do not ask on every page. This is strictly necessary to remember your choice. - A session cookie, set only after you sign in, that keeps you signed in. It is required for the saved-answers feature.
- Advertising cookies set by Google, only if you accept them. The AdSense script is not loaded until you do.
Advertising
This site is funded by Google AdSense. If you choose Accept advertising cookies, we load Google's adsbygoogle script and Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your activity on this and other sites.
If you choose Essential only, we do not load that script, reserved ad units stay empty, and we do not set advertising cookies. You can still use every calculator and conversion page.
You can opt out of personalised advertising across Google at Google Ads Settings. Google's own handling of this data is described in the Google privacy & terms for partner sites.
Lawful bases
- Advertising cookies and related ad data: your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and PECR).
- Sign-in and saved answers: performing the service you asked for (Article 6(1)(b)).
- Server logs and essential cookies: legitimate interests in running and securing the site (Article 6(1)(f)), and PECR's strictly necessary exemption for the consent cookie.
Your choices and rights
You can change your advertising choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew it. Signing out ends the session cookie. To delete your saved list and the email address attached to it, remove every saved item.
Under UK GDPR you may also ask for a copy of the personal data we hold, ask us to correct it, or object to processing that relies on legitimate interests. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
